©Alyssa Rosenheck for Amy May Paper

I remember when I was a little girl I would watch my father, who was a mechanical engineer, draft plans for his company. I would park myself in front of his drafting table and stand on the tallest stool I could find so I was able to see the paper he was writing on. I was mesmerized by how he could create something out of nothing, using just a ruler and a pencil. I would watch him meticulously write letter after letter in his architectural handwriting, and I remember one day asking him how I could have handwriting like his when I grew up. Without a doubt, this is where my love of handlettering began.

Here I find myself many years later starting a company of my own based upon the concept of beautiful lettering. The idea of beginning with a blank page, a few tools and creating something that someone may treasure is a passion of mine, and it is such a blessing to be able to do something each day that inspires me.

I look forward to working with you, learning your story, and putting pen to paper to create something that captures this special time in your life that you will treasure for years to come.
