i do.

gah, don't you just love a wedding. there is just something about that special time; be it for a family member, a dear friend, or {in my line of work} a complete stranger, that just makes me all happy inside. Years ago, I used to work for a darling shop selling the most amazing gowns {if you are local and shopping for a wedding day beauty, you must go see the kind hearts that adore what they do at The Bride Room }. I remember girls coming in and I would love hearing all about their big day, their sweet groom, and every little detail in between.

Many years later I find myself still in the midst of all things weddings, but from a different perspective. I am creating different pieces for brides, learning about their big day in different ways... It just never gets old. While it is so easy to get wrapped up in all the frills + the fun - I am always reminded about the "why" behind the day. The words that are said, that instill an everlasting commitment to one another. One of my favorite projects to work on is custom vows for a bride + groom. Those words are so sacred + so dear, and to be able to write them out for a couple to see, to be reminded of, is such a gift.

Before Amy May Paper was in business my husband surprised me with our vows written in custom calligraphy for our {first} anniversary gift. As the traditional first year gift is paper {this was my favorite yet for very obvious reasons} I could not have thought up anything more meaningful or more perfect. They hang over our bed + are a constant reminder of the commitment we made to each other. On the good days, the bad days, + all the ones in between, those words are something I will always hold so dear to my heart and will be forever thankful he was the one i said them to.

Do you have your vows somewhere in your home? Did you write your own? What are some of the pieces from your big day that you still hold dear to your heart? Happy Thursday Friends!
